Maybe: It's possible. The best way to be sure is discuss with pediatrician and pediatric gastroenterologist, possible a minimally invasive pediatric surgeon. Everyone will need to closely review past and current history, medical conditions, any "asthma" like symptoms, upper respiratory infections, pneumonia, etc.. Working together they can come up with an evaluation and treatment plan.

Everybody refluxes: Gerd is defined by symptoms related to an excess of a normal event.(burp, wet burp, spitting up)the spitting up can increase anytime a kid gets worked up, & the process is more readily apparent in some than others. If the older child is not experiencing heartburn symptoms, it is likely just a delay in acquiring the ability to avoid spitting up as he gets older, which is a voluntary & learned skill.

Yes: and the older your son gets with these symptoms, the less likely he is to outgrow his GERD. At that point, we weigh the pros and cons of a lifetime of antacids versus a laparoscopic procedure to fix the GERD.
