I was diagnosed with myofascial pain syndrome. how is it different from fibromyalgia?

MPS is localized FM: Fibromyalgia (fm) pain is widespread by definition, meaning it occurs on both sides of the body above and below the waist and includes the spine. Myofasical pain syndrome (mps) is pain that is not widespread but limited in its distribution. However, treatments used in fm are also used in mps including certain non-narcotic pain medications, massage and topical treatments-so they are related.

Location: Myofacial pain is usually located in a region or area of the body while fibromyalgia is all over the body. In addition, myofacial pain affects the muscle belly (the center of the muscle) while fibromyalgia affects the area where the muscle meets the tendon.
