Phlebitis.: This is inflammation of your vessel and should be treated with warm compresses and an anti inflammatory medicine like Motrin if you can take that. If it is not getting better or spreading up your arm or causing other body symptoms you should see someone right away.

Valvular inflammatio: You have a common problem following any IV access...You have developed an inflammation (not infection) of a venous valve near the site of the puncture...Heat and nsaids are all that is needed for resolution.
