What is the best treatment of pimples?

Several good options: For treatment of acne, over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide gel/cream is quite helpful. If desired, a doctor can add an antibiotic gel/cream such as Cleocin (clindamycin phosphate) gel. If more help is needed, prescription retinoids such as Retin-A or differin gel can be used instead of benzoyl peroxide. Oral antibiotics such as tetracycline can be used also. If acne is quite severe, a dermatologist might use oral accutane.

Routine tx plus: Depending upon the sex. Females have the option to take prescribed hormones similarly to birth control but not necessarily anovulatories. The worst cases need topical injections with cortisone. Keep face clean from oily creams pr sweat. Keep scalp/ head not oily ( use shampoo against oily hair)? Most people improve after adolescence. Accutane is very toxic

Try OTC first: Neutrogena makes a nice salicylic acid facial cleanser. Follow this up with an otc benzoyl peroxide treatment according to the label directions. If this is not getting the results you desire, seek a dermatologist.

It : It depends if you are talking about whiteheads/blackheads or pimples (small red bumps/pustules) on the face and the tolerability of your skin. Check out the link below where i discuss someo of the options that work well. There is a combination treatment called epiduo that works pretty well for many of my patients. I hope that helps!

Acne treatment: Acne can be prevented or minimized by using a gentle cleanser twice daily, over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid products or prescription medications including topical cream with or without oral medications. Don't pick at them! A dermatologist should be able to help you, but be sure to report your current pregnancy.
