What causes high red blood cells & low iron? My rbc are 5.72, hematocrit 46.3, iron 43, iron saturation 12.1, ferritin 42, TIBC 355, transferrin 284
Taking iron supplements, my ferritin is very low (5), my tranferrin and iron are normal. My TIBC and % transferrin saturation are high. Cause?
I have had 3 iron panels done over the last 3 years. My transferrin saturation is always high around 60%. My TIBC is always in the low normal range. My ferritin is in the high normal range. I do not take supplements. Is this an iron overload disease?
