Hmmm...: I think he should see his regular doc to be evaluated. Maybe that wasn't gastroenteritis. If the blood is a few drops and is at the end of stool ( not mixed in) it is very possible that this is an internal hemorrhoid. However, there are other considerations including inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis and of course colon ca.
