Lap nephrectomy: Contrary to popular belief, laparoscopic organ removal has about the same complication risk as open surgery. Internal bleeding, infection, pneumonia, blood clots and incisional hernias can occur in both surgeries. Most young/healthy patients do well after either surgical approach.
