See an allergist: Hives or urticaria are very common and uncomfortable. Hives are not contagious or life threatening. Hives occurring for less than 6 weeks are "acute" hives. Sometimes a cause is found and sometimes not. An allergist can assist in finding the cause of the hives and find a medication or combination of medications to give a person relief. Don't suffer!
