Yes: Some oral surgeons also will have their patients take an oral medication to relax the patient, since patients are a wake with local anesthesia.

Not necessarily: Most dentists or oral surgeons will use some form of sedative to make the patient comfortable during this procedure. I would ask the provider what they are going to use.
