A member asked:

What happens if you drink alcohol 24 hours prior to having surgery?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No added risk: As long as it was in moderation and you do not abuse alcohol regularly you are fine. However if you routinely use a lot of alcohol please tell your surgeon and anesthesiologist so that they can watch for and treat early any signs of withdrawal which can be very dangerous.
