A member asked:

My brother who is over 30 has had a soar throat for 3 months he says he has a pain when swallowing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See a doctor...: Sore throat and painful swallowing for 3 months is concerning for either a infection of the throat or esophagus and/or acid reflux. Lpr (laryngopharyngeal reflux) is a variant of gerd (gastro-esophgeal reflux) that is caused by acidic stomach contents refluxing high up the esophagus and spilling over into the throat, larynx and vocal cords. Suggest that he sees a GI specialist for evaluation.
