Hard to say: Red dots in the tissues of the mouth can occur for many reasons. Trauma, as you mention, is just one. Oral cancer, yeast infection, herpes, reaction to medications, and poor oral hygiene are some others. The only way to know is to see a dentist and have the spots examined.
