A member asked:

Niacin and blood sugar or diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Increase blood sugar: Increase blood sugars is a side effect seen with niacin.( a dose-related effect). Close blood glucose monitoring is advised for diabetics/ potentially diabetic patients during treatment with niacin; adjustment of diet and/or antidiabetic therapy may be necessary. See your physician for evaluation and care.
