Try Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Most nyquil preparations contain dextromethorphan which can cause nausea. You could just take otc Diphenhydramine (benadryl) which is a sedating antihistamine, and will help with some of the symptoms as well as with sleep.

Sleep: Try other over the counter meds as melatonin.There are several others available not related to nyquil. If sleep problems persist see your MD

OTC meds: If nyquil makes you sick and sleep is the big issue just take OTC benadryl.

Firstly,: Practice good sleep hygiene, like not laying in bed when not sleeping, going to bed at regular time, avoiding day time naps, been active during day(physical exertion), eating healthy, reducing stress and anxiety, avoiding stimulants or coffee after 11am. If all this fail then trial of Melatonin or Benadryl. If that still fails see a doctor
