? rectal: The brain is in charge of controlling the body's temperature. If there is severe brain injury involving these centers, the body temperature may change without reason. Also, if undue stimulation is done (rectal probe) this may set off reaction that is not comfortable. Simple strips or underarm measurements are best. No need to over react if mild changes are noted.
