Physics: It would require a long answer to explain in detail, but it is mainly because it takes a long time for the physics to happen. Depending on the body part(s) and whether contrast is used, MRI can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour to complete. Each MRI study is actually made up of a number of individual shorter sequences that cannot be performed simultaneously.
