Colon: The bacteria in the colon process sugars and starches and make gas. Excess gas in the gas of bacterial overgrowth with bloating and pain might be a problem. A hydrogen breath test can diagnose this and lactose intolerant. If you are without diarrhea or bloating or pain, it should not be alarming.

Gas cause by foods: Excessive gas is most often caused by certain foods such as leafy veggies. It is not unhealthy. Increasing fiber in your diet may be helpful.
