A member asked:

Can excessive gas in the stomach cause reflux or food regurgitation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Excessive gas accumulation in the stomach& bloating causes urge to belch too much& some regurgitation isn't unusual. Forcing oneself to belch only causes more air swallowing & more urge to belch. Instead drink hot water which breaks down gas bubbles allowing them to travel down the intestinal tract and out the rectum which is the proper way. Take simethicone 1/2 hour after a meal to prevent gas.
