Yes with caution: Most common from viral conjunctivitis is very contagious. You can infect another simply by touching your eye or face and then transmitting the virus to a surface or another person. Washing your hands with soap and water or using an alcohol sanitizer will help prevent transmission to your baby. Do not share washcloths or towels. Wash all inspected garments and hot water. Clean surfaces too.

Depends on situation: Many consider the possibility of easy spread diminished considerably after 24-48 hours of treatment. Attention to hand washing and other basic hygiene also reduce the possibility.
