Hepatitus c positive. what are the treatments?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: You need to know your hcv genotype. Genotype 2 is the easiest to treat now with pegylated interferon (an injection) plus ribavirin. In less than a year, we will likely have all-oral treatment with 90+ percent cure rates. Genotype 3 is harder to treat with peg-ifn plus rbv. Genotype 1 requires peg-ifn plus rbv plus a protease inhibitor such as telaprevir or boceprevir. All oral is 2 years away.
