Why does my knee swell when i'm sick?

Odd symptom: What you are describing sounds unusual. What do you mean by "sick"? Thee are some viruses that can cause joint pain but not usually much swelling. Knee swelling after a bout of diarrhea could be due to reactive arthritis. I suggest that you show this problem to your pcp the next time it occurs. Evaluation by a rheumatologsit may be appropriate.
