Several issues!: Chronic prostatitis is not always a current bacterial infection, but an immune reaction to bacterial debris within the prostate gland. If your prostatic secretions reveal a specific bacteria, then a culture with sensitivity will guide you to the appropriate antibiotic. Many cases of chronic "bacterial" prostatitis occur because treatment periods are to short!
