Yes it can help: Melatonin is a natural hormone your body produces to signal sleep onset. In some people with sleep onset insomnia or circadian rhythm disturbances melatonin can help. Unfortunately, it does little to help keep you asleep throughout the night.

Melatonin.: I agree w dr. Rubin. Good sleep hygiene in addition to melatonin may do the trick. 1. Keep a regular bedtime & wakening time (to include weekends). Get up the same time each day, regardless of what time you fell asleep. 2. Make a regular, relaxing bedtime routine. Relaxing rituals prior to bedtime may include a warm bath or shower, aroma therapy, reading, or listening to gentle music.
