A member asked:

Why do they use needles for allergy tests?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some: We start with a prick test ( no needles) that places a drop on the skin and scratches the superficial skin layer. The negative tests are double checked with an intradermal test, needle injection between the layers of the skin. You need to have direct skin contact with the allergen to see if someone is allergic to it.
