Antihistamines: The uncomfortable effects from an allergic reaction generally respond to antihistamines such as claritin, (loratadine) zyrtec or allegra. For more severe reactions, oral corticosteroids such as Prednisone may be needed--these are by prescription only. Also, it is key to avoid whatever triggered the allergic reaction in the first place.
