Guanfacine comes as: A short-acting one mg. Tablet (tenex), given 3-4 times a day. The long-acting form, intuniv, comes as 1, 2 & 3 mg tablets. The maximum dose is 4mg daily. Intuniv is approved for use in adhd. Optimal Depakote serum level are 50-100 micrograms/ml. For seizures & up to 125 micrograms/ ml for bipolar disorder. They should be used together with caution, as there is a potential drug interaction.
