Depends on…: Type of test & the results. Negative results r often reported by phone (except for HIV test). Many docs prefer to discuss positive results face-to-face so treatment can begin at once & preventive advice can be given. Most prefer to discuss all results of HIV test in person so reassurance can be provided, options for treatment, need to tell partners & have them treated.

Hi Doc, I had unprotected sex with a friend Sept 1st 2019. I got a full STD panel on Sept 18-All negative. She got tested Oct 30, results-all negative. I took another test Jan 18 2020 - all negative. Is my HIV conclusive both 4th Gen with reflexes. ?
Are std tests accurate and reliable years later (5-10+) after a "potential" exposure? Are there any concerns in what specific tests to take for a full panel? Thanks for your time doctor(s)?
