Aphthous ulcers: What you describe sounds like aphthous ulcers. These are common reactions that occur inside the mouth and tongue. They can come as single or multiple lesions. It is not known as to what causes them, but trauma such as biting inside of the cheek and stress may increase their risk. They last about a week or two and go away usually on their own. Swishing with salt water or a numbing agent may help.

Canker sore: You probably developed canker sores. A common lesion of the cheeks and tongue area. We think if maybe an autoimmune response to certain triggers like stress, illness, foods, etc. They go away within two weeks. No cure. Just treat the symptoms. Take mild pain med. Apply over-the-counter canker sore meds to numb or cover them so you can eat. Avoid spicy or acidy food and drink. Not contagious.
