A member asked:

I am breast feeding, and plan to do so for at least a full year. when is it best to introduce complementary foods such as grains, fish, and egg?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

6 months: The aap recommends complimentary foods be introduced at 6 months. Most start with with iron fortified cereals, then advance to fruit, veggies, meats. A recent change-meat may be one of the first foods you offer, rather than waiting till9mo. I don't recommend juice as a routine part of the diet; i see too many who prefer juice over milk or water. I'm delighted you've decided to breast feed 12mo!
