Know Your Options: Traditional mastectomies for cancer include removal of the nipple-areolar complex. Recent data supports the option of "sparing" the nipple and areola, especially for prophylactic mast-x. There are many different reconstruction options depending on which mast-x is done, your body habitus, your goals of reconstruction, and your medical history. In general, a second opinion can be reassuring.
