Few things: Any time a woman is having abnormal bleeding, it is possible this is due to a pregnancy. If it's possible you are pregnant you should check a home pregnancy test. If you're not pregnant the most common cause of the spotting that you are describing is due to a hormone imbalance where the lining of the uterus is thickened. This often times resolves on its own. If it persists you should see an ob/gyn.
