Many night shift…: Workers face same dilemma: simple solution is to have mealtimes that fit your schedule, not a daytime one. Eat healthful meals, limit portion size, plenty of colorful fruits & veggies, lean proteins, low-fat dairy, whole grains, good fats. Boil/bake/steam/broil/grill/nuke rather than fry foods. Try not to eat heavy meal just before bedtime. Get adequate exercise.

Yes, it is hard: It a known problem and recognized as circadian rythm disturbance, shift work type. You must be asleep ANS awake on demand. The wakefulness med is modafanil, 2 hours prior to the shift, it is safer than chronic sleepiness and weight gain. Nuvigil is the newer more expensive version. You may need help with sleep as well. There are many choices, depending on other circumstances. Get treatment.
