Maybe: Scarlet fever is cause by group a strep, the same strep that causes strep throat and is really strep throat with the characteristic scarlatin rash. This illness is contagious in the acute phase until someone is on antibiotics for 24 hours. Therefore, the chance of getting strep depends on where in the course of the illness a person is.

Not so much: If you have the label then the kid has been diagnosed & should be on treatment. Unless the kid had close contact with the 7mo it would be hard for it to get the Strep A infection that causes it.Contact during the early symptom phaze or 1st 24 hrs on meds would be the vulnerable period. If so the baby would get the rash too.Contact with saliva would be the mode of transfer, not from being nearby.
