Likely infectious: Acute diarrhea usually resolves within 1 to 2 weeks. Bloody diarrhea should be evaluated promptly. Increasing clear liquid intake helps prevent dehydration from the diarrhea. It is also advisable to avoid fruit juices and other sugary drinks as they can worsen the diarrhea.
