A member asked:

What could cause aches around my kidney area?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain around kidneys: They kidneys are surrounded by a capsule which is very sensitive. Anything that causes swelling of the kidneys or inflammation can cause pain (urinary tract infection, stones, etc). However, the kidneys also reside near many of the muscles in the back, so pain in that area commonly is due to back pain, pulled muscles, strains, etc. Try a heating pad and if no help, see your doctor.
