Nasal spray: I would not recommend either sudafed or phenylephrine as a decongestant during breastfeeding. Afrin or neo-synephrine, decongestant nasal sprays, can be used for a few days, are effective, and are not absorbed into the blood stream.

Most are safe: To start, nasal saline or netti pot. Afrin for few days is ok. As long as blood pressure is not high, sudafed is ok. Sudafed or generic Pseudoephedrine tends to work better than phenylephrine.
