Skin lesion: If it is changing in size, shape, color or becomes raised then he should be evaluated again.

Depends: It depends on the type of brown mark. Often obese people develop a velvety brown mark on the back of their neck called acanthosis nigricans. This is a sign of Insulin resistance and potentially diabetes. Other concerning symptoms of skin cancer include changing skin lesion, assymetry, irregular border, multi- colored, diameter larger than 6 mm =, or evolving shape/color.
