A member asked:

I have a 4 month old who spits up a lot (reflux) but has recently started spitting up foamy milk/saliva. is this something to be concerned about?

Not necessarily: The content of the spit up will vary with the stage of digestion that is interrupted by the reflux event. The appearance will also vary with feeding content. This does not mean things have taken a turn for the worse. I find the regular infant reflux peaks naturally as they begin to roll over(4-5m) & begins to subside when they begin sitting up(6-9m).

Maybe: If your child is thriving and not dehydrated i would not worry;some spit up more some less some not at all. If you feel that your child is not thriving or has less energy then i would see my pediatrician asap. Remember moms know their child best.
