UFO's: Ubiquitous flying objects- eye injuries in the dental office happen when adequate eye protection is not worn. Anything from pieces of restorations thrown by the spinning drill to injuries caused by curing lights damaging the retina are possible. Eye protection is necessary in the lab as many shards of materials commonly utilized are flying through the air, too!

Splatter: High speed drills, air syringes, etc can shoot debris that could get in your eyes. Good suctioning by the assistant will prevent this. Also the dentist may instruct you to close your eyes at times. Protective glasses are also sometimes placed on patients.
