Yes/No: Hypochondriasis is characterized by an increased level of self awareness & consciousness of bodily function & malfunction. They borrow from anxiety disorders the catastrophic thinking pattern as well as the exaggeration . It is not voluntary. Their constant scanning of their body for any sensation, pain or malfunction magnifies these bodily symptoms and outs them at the forefront of their concerns.
