Typically not: The muscles of the abdomen are not connected to, nor directly related to the muscles of the buttocks. The buttocks are composed of gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus. The best exercises that help to strengthen and condition these groups of muscles include: squats, leg presses, lunges, hip abduction and stair climbing. Aerobic conditioning can also help reduce overall weight.
