Depends: If periods are painful, a birth control pill can make them lighter and less painful. If painful, medicines like Ibuprofen and naprosyn (naproxen) can ase the pain. Exercize can help. Heating pad to the back or tummy is very helpful.

Tips: Consider omega- 3 fatty acids or magnesium (supplementation or through diet) with dr ok. Discuss use of herbal like black cohosh with your dr. Sipping chamomile & green tea can dissipate pain. Avoid caffeine, chocolate, alcohol & salt. Nsaid’s, warm bath, heating pad & acupuncture are excellent for dysmenorrhea. Get gyn eval – check magnesium & iodine levels & to rule out underlying pathology.
