Probably not, but...: If you have "hyperkeratosis" on the oral tissues, it is usually nothing to worry about. However, nobody can tell for sure unless a biopsy is performed on the area and the specimen is analysed by a pathologist. Some of my patients want a biopsy soley for peace of mind, even when i tell them it is likely to be benign. If you want peace of mind, demand a biopsy and put all mystery to rest.

Actinic keratosis?: Actinic keratosis may not be serious but should be followed by a doctor. I would recommend evaluation by a dermatologist as sometimes these lesions are treated by a variety of methods to ensure it does not progress to skin cancer.
