A member asked:

If i have been taking two diphenhydramine hydrochloride 25 mg pills everynight for over a year, and i stop taking it cold turkey, will i withdraw?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: While it may take you a while to get to used to falling to sleep without the diphenhydramine, you will have no withdrawal symptoms if you abruptly stop taking the medicine. Some people have had good success using melatonin (3 mg) as a substitute. This is available over the counter.
