Unfortunate, : We are never completely sure how hormones affect brain chemicals; indeed, we see both addition and subtraction of hormones triggering headaches. That is why many of my esteemed colleagues have gone to trying to directly control brain chemicals affecting migraines. Approaches have involved use of preventatives such as topamax (topiramate) and depakote, but otc preps such as butterbur, riboflavin, may help.
