Yes: It is airborne ( a 6 ft perimeter from one who is sneezing/coughing ) but is also spread by contact with surfaces or direct human contact(shaking hands).Also, one is contagious hours before the 1st fever.

Yes: Influenza is a respiratory illness, so it is spread when you come in contact with the droplets from a cough or a sneeze. The droplets can enter your body when you inhale them or if you touch something contaminated with droplets, and then touch your own mouth, eyes or nose. That's why keeping your hands away from your face and washing your hands frequently is so important.

These “droplets” can enter in the mouths or noses of nearby people. A person can also get the flu by touching something that has flu virus on it and then introducing the virus into their own mouth or nose. The flu vaccine and washing hands often prevent the spread.
