It's not unusual: To have some first trimester spotting. No need to panic just take it easy. Refrain from intercourse in the short term, use some aleve (naproxen) or ibuprofin in the short term to help with cramping. You may also have a bladder infection adding to cramping of the uterus. Bleeding also can cause a feedback loop creating uterine spasm ( contractions) then more bleeding. The med can help the spasm part.
