Many possibilities. : Kids can loose patches of hair through scalp infections with bacteria or fungus, from pulling it out ( twirling & eating), & other dermatological issues.A visit to the kids pcp can start the process of finding out.

See a dermatologist: Alopecia areata is the most likely cause. Fungus is possible. Sometimes it is lupus, psychiatric, others. See a skin specialist soon.
