So if this diagnosis was made by a needle biopsy, it is recommended to have surgical excision to verify presence or lack of presence of assoiated malignancy.

Breast papillomas: are benign. However, there is not universal consensus on the management of papillomas when the diagnosis is made on needle biopsy. It depends somewhat on the type of needle biopsy and the number of samples, whether it can be determined that the entirety of the papilloma is in the biopsy specimen, as well as various clinical and histologic features. Surgical excision may be indicated.
