If a preemie newborn (1 or 2 weeks old) gets a low grade temp (99 ) following an immunization, can you give them tylenol (acetaminophen)?

What for?: Temperature of 99 f is not regarded as fever. Watch for significant change in infant's general well being.

Not considered temp: I wouldn't consider a 99 an elevated temp in any child at any age. Less than a 100.4 core temp (rectal) is considered within the normal range in early infancy although many pay close attention when they hit 100. If you want to give tylenol (acetaminophen) for comfort at any point it is ok, many kids are fussy & seem warm to touch with perspiration after reacting to the pain.
